- MID SEASON GRADING REVIEW
The Gradings Committee met last week to review
grading reports received so far. Although the
number of reports received is significantly
down on last season, sufficient reports have
been received on each regularly-standing umpire
to form an opinion. The committee is pleased to
note that most members are performing in line
with their grading. Any who are either
significantly above or below current grading will
be contacted by the President.
Senior umpires have been circulated with a list
of those clubs who are not regularly sending in
grading forms and they are asked to remind captains
that these reports should be completed after each
match and sent to Stu Daultrey.

The Association notes with great sadness the death earlier this week of one of our most popular members,
Donny Thompson. Apparently always suntanned, Donny was always one to see the brighter side of life and
his ready laugh and willingness to umpire anywhere at the drop of a hat will be much missed by both players
and umpiring colleagues throughout Leinster cricket. We offer our sympathies to his wife Cherry and extended family.

- A group consisting of Rodney Molins, Nigel Parnell and Rodney Smythe will be reviewing the regulations on our behalf
- We shall, through Mary Sharp, be sending out a notice to all clubs encouraging people to take up umpiring/scoring. All members, especially those affiliated to clubs, are urged to do their bit on this front
- The annual dinner 2009 will be on 30th January at the Russell Court Hotel. Peter Thew is in contact with a very distinguished cricketing speaker for the dinner
- The match for the White Stick Trophy will be on 27th September at North County. If any member would like to play, please contact John Andrews (087-6922979)
- We are getting quotes for a bulk supply of bowlers’ markers bearing the LCU&SA logo
- We would like members’ views on the new clothing. Please contact Alan Tuffery

- WHITE STICK TROPHY MATCH 2008 :
The LCU&SA will be going for an unprecedented 4 in a row when we tackle the auld enemy from NIACUS in the annual joust on Saturday 27th September 2008 at North County CC. Captain John Andrews will be putting the team through their usual intensive training programme over the next few weeks. MID SEASON REVIEW: The Mid Season Review Workshop will be held at Malahide
CC at 8 pm on Tuesday 8th June. This is a great opportunity to talk about
any issues that have arisen so far for scorers and umpires with a view to
getting agreement. If there is a specific issue that you would like to
raise, it would be helpful if you would send an email or make a call to Alan
Tuffery, Training Officer.
