Rathmines on Saturday 23rd September was a glorious, bright sunny day, in contrast to the post-hurricane sog of lovely Laurelvale in 1999. A total of seven debutants appeared for LCUA but succeeded only in establishing new record for the lowest score in the series. Even the trusty alickadoos of The President, Stan McCready, Louis Hogan, John Heavey, Liam Keegan, and Peter Thew were subdued throughout. Rumour has it that some useful Senior batsmen will be doing a lot of umpiring next year!
